Setup guide

Connect. Activate. Map. Play.

Choose the activation path for your Android version, then build your first controller-to-touch layout.

Before you start

Check the basics.

  • An Android 8.0 or later phone, tablet or supported Android device.
  • A Bluetooth or USB controller that Android recognizes.
  • The game installed and its touch controls visible.
  • Internet access for sign-in, access verification, ads or purchases when used.

Pair the controller in Android first. Confirm that Android responds to its buttons or sticks before opening the mapping editor.

Activation

Use the path that matches your Android version.

Recommended

Android 11 and later

Axis can guide you through Android’s built-in Wireless Debugging pairing and activation on the same device.

  1. Open the activation flow inside Axis.
  2. Enable Developer options and Wireless Debugging when prompted.
  3. Pair using the code shown by Android.
  4. Return to Axis and confirm the service reports ready.
External or manual

Android 8 through 10

These versions do not provide the same built-in wireless pairing flow. Use one of the supported alternatives.

  • External Shizuku activation.
  • Manual ADB activation from a computer.
  • Root activation when your device is already rooted.
Activation is not root.

Root is optional. Axis uses supported Android service activation paths to obtain the access required for controller-to-touch mapping.

Mapping

Place inputs over the game’s touch controls.

  1. 1

    Add the game

Select the installed game you want to configure.

  2. 2

    Open the editor

Launch the mapping canvas over the game’s existing controls.

  3. 3

    Capture and position

Press a controller input, choose its action, and position its touch target.

  4. 4

    Tune and save

Adjust sticks, gyro, gestures or scenes, then save the layout.

Play

Start the mapping before entering gameplay.

Select the game and layout from the Axis home screen, start the mapping service, then enter the game. Use the Axis overlay when you need to edit, switch scenes or stop the session.

Axis maps to the game’s existing touch interface. It does not modify the game or its files.

Troubleshooting

If something does not respond.

Controller input is missing
Reconnect it in Android and confirm the device itself recognizes the input.
Activation no longer shows ready
Reopen Axis and repeat the activation path after a reboot or system change.
A touch lands in the wrong place
Open the mapping editor with the same game resolution and reposition the control.
