Overlay editor missing
Confirm Display over other apps is explicitly enabled for Axis Gamepad Pro in Android system settings.
Most setup problems fall into one of four groups: Shizuku is not running, a required permission was denied, Android is not exposing the controller correctly, or a gyro mapping still needs tuning. Start with the section that matches the behavior you see.
This is expected behavior. Shizuku is a user-mode process and does not persist after a system restart. Start the Shizuku service again through Wireless Debugging or ADB before reopening Axis.

On Android 13+, notification permission is required to keep the background process visible and reduce silent service kills.
Aggressive battery management from some vendors can stop Axis. Set battery usage to Unrestricted where available.
System permission dialogs block touch overlays for security. Complete the system prompt first, then reopen your overlay editor inside Axis.
Verify the controller is exposed to Android as a real input device in Bluetooth or OTG settings. If the hardware supports alternate modes, try switching between X-Input and HID.
Reset to a minimal layout with one movement input and one button. If that works, add new bindings gradually so mapping conflicts are easier to isolate.
Increase the deadzone threshold in advanced gyro settings until the camera settles while the device is still.
Lower the horizontal and vertical sensitivity sliders before changing smoothing or acceleration.
Use the Flip X or Flip Y toggles in the mapper if turning feels inverted inside the game.
Save the layout, change only one parameter at a time, and retest in the same gameplay scenario for clear feedback.
Return to the Installation & Setup guide, confirm Shizuku is active, and test again with a simple button-only layout before restoring your full profile.
